Our Origin Story…
Born from the aftermath of the 2018 tornados that ravaged Rice County, MN, we wanted to salvage and utilize our damaged forests in a sustainable manner.
DuckHill Sawmill, LLC is a small family business, based in Northfield, Minnesota, providing mobile sawmill services, and lumber sales to Southern Minnesota, Northeast Iowa, and Western Wisconsin. Former college roommates, now brothers-in-law, and business partners operate the sawmill from their family farm.
It made sense for it to be a whole family effort that will positively affect our family, community, and environment, for generations to come.

Ben Finley
Hi, my name is Ben. I spend the majority of my time running the sawmill. I also make furniture, and home decor in my workshop. Two of my favorite things are Maple Syrup in my coffee and warm flannel.
Kevin O’Brien
Kevin is a proud father of 3 children Elizabeth, Lucas, and Dylan. Married up to his loving wife Christine who helps support the many interests of the family. He went to school at UWRF where he majored in Conservation and Minored in Biology. Currently, he is working as the Aquatic Supervisor for the City of Faribault while co-operating Duckhill Sawmill with Ben Finley. Kevin loves anything outdoors but mainly: hunting, fishing, and camping. They live on the 4.5-acre hobby farm with my wife's family.
